Is your child interested in taking dance lessons, but you aren’t quite sure where to start? Dance lessons are fun for any age, but there are some things to take into consideration when deciding where to place your child for their first dance class. Getting them into the right dance class will help your child enjoy their dance experience that much more. Here are some tips for selecting your child’s dance lesson.

How to Select Your Child’s Dance Lessons

  • Age – An important factor in deciding if dance is right for your child is their age. Some dance classes start at the age of 3 or 4. These dance classes are more focused on having fun than learning specific dance techniques. By age 5 your child should be learning specific dance techniques. Dance is a great activity for any age above 3 or 4.
  • Choosing a studio – Not only will you want to select the right class and teacher, selecting a good dance studio is also important. You will want to decide what you and your child are wanting to get out of dance. Is this for fun or are you wanting to be competitive in dance? You will want to select a dance studio that offers what you want. Ask to sit in on a dance class to observe what they offer. Lastly, talk to other dance parents about their experiences with the studio.
  • Cost – You will want to look at the cost of specific classes. How many times a week does it meet and for how long? Is there a registration fee or costume fees? Will there be a recital or travel expenses? Selecting a dance studio that fits your budget is extremely important.

There are many dance studios to choose from. Here at Carolina Dance Capital, we offer a wide range of classes for a wide range of ages and skill levels.
