Here at Carolina Dance Capital, we want to help more children experience the joys of dance. If your child is interested in trying dance classes, the first thing you’ll need to do is find the right dance studio for them. The quality of the studio can make a big difference in your child’s overall enjoyment, as well as in how much and how well they are able to learn, so this decision matters. In this article, our team will provide a few tips on how to choose the right dance studio for your child in order to maximize their enjoyment and success.
- Are the Teachers Friendly? When looking at dance studios, we recommend taking the time to get to know the dance instructors and see how they interact with the children. Kids enjoy dance class more–and in our experience, learn better–when they are being taught by adults who are friendly to them.
- Are the Teachers Experienced? Another thing to look for when choosing a dance studio is instructors who have training and experience in the type of dance your child wants to learn. For example, if your child wants to learn ballet, it’s best to find an instructor with extensive ballet experience. Our team has experience in a broad range of dance styles, from ballet to hip-hop to tap and beyond.
- Does the Studio Prioritize Safety? A third thing to keep in mind when choosing a dance studio for your child is safety. Dancing, like any physical activity, carries some risk for injury, and it’s important for the studio to minimize that risk wherever possible. Ideally, the studio floors should be “sprung”, meaning that they have a certain amount of give, and should have a vinyl mat over the top to minimize slipping.
