Your child’s first dance lesson is approaching, and you want to make sure that they are well prepared for their first day. There are a few things that you can do to make your child’s first dance lesson run smoothly and be stress free for you and your child.

How to Prepare for Your Child's First Dance Lesson

  • Dress – Find out well before your child’s first dance lesson what is expected of them to wear for the class. Be sure to purchase those items well in advance so that there is no concern of sold out items or not being able to find the right size. Make sure that your child is wearing all of the required clothing and/or shoes for their first day.
  • Rested & fed – Be sure that you are sending your child to their dance lesson well rested and fed. No one enjoys being tired and hungry when they are exercising. If your child takes naps be sure to take that into consideration when selecting a class time. Giving your child a small snack and water before class can be a good habit to form.
  • Talk – Talk with child about the expectations of class before their dance lesson begins. Let them know that they need to listen to the instructor and follow directions. Talk about how much fun they are going to have! Really build up the experience so that they are excited for it. Talk about what clothes they are going to be wearing and what they will be learning.

With a little preparation we believe that your little dancer will have a wonderful experience not only at their first dance lesson but throughout the entire season.
